Become a Volunteer Hear from our Volunteers When I joined Sahiyo, my intention was to know more about FGC in India for my law school dissertation. To my surprise, I learned about a new form of activism entailing respect and compassion. The understanding that Sahiyo’s projects provide is nuanced and addresses the multiple facets of the practice and, to date, with each project I learn something new and I am thoroughly grateful for that. – Moksha Kothari, Volunteer since 2020 As someone who grew up in a community where FGC was the norm, my involvement with Sahiyo has been an integral part to self-actualization and healing. I joined Sahiyo at a time where I desperately needed allies who understood my personal struggles with FGC. Since joining, I have been able to use my personal experiences and integrate them with work that will positively impact my career as a healthcare professional. – Zahra Qaiyumi, Volunteer since 2019 Volunteers in Action Volunteer Koathar Olateju assisted in designing our latest guide, “ Sharing your Experience with FGM/C” Volunteer Jumai Olumo assisted in an FGC 101 presentation at the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault State Conference.
